|Characters from The Dark Artifices by Cassandra Jean (for more details, click here.)|
A snippet from Lady Midnight -the first book in The Dark Artifices series- on Cassie's website.
The cycle hit the beach and spun out. Emma went into a rolling crouch as she flew free of it, keeping her elbows in, pushing the air hard out of her lungs. She turned her head as she hit the sand, slapping her palms down to roll herself forward, absorbing the impact of the fall through her arms and shoulders, her knees folding up into her chest. The stars wheeled crazily overhead as she spun, sucking in her breath as her body slowed its rolling. She came to a stop on her back, her hair and clothes full of sand and her ears full of the sound of the wildly crashing ocean….Lady Midnight will be published in 2015 but, takes place in 2012.
Check out the synopsis:
Los Angeles, 2012. It’s been five years since the events of the Mortal Instruments when Nephilim stood poised on the brink of oblivion and Shadowhunter Emma Carstairs lost her parents. After the blood and violence she witnessed as a child, Emma has dedicated her life to

kill tease us, check out the new art work from Cassandra Jean called Everyone Seems Too Happy.
City of Heavenly Fire: spoilery fanart
Otherwise known as Everyone Seems Too Happy…
Some CoHF spoilery art for you! With Clockwork Princess now out for a month, I’ve decided it’s time to start mixing up answers about Clockwork Princess and cut scenes with a few teasers for the last book in that other series. This teaser isn’t words, it’s art by Cassanda Jean. I won’t make any promises about what it means but I think, unlike the previous piece, and the other previous piece, and oh, that last piece … that you may well not like it. :D
It IS A SPOILER for an actual scene, so it’s under a cut.

“Simon,” said a voice at his shoulder, and he turned to see Izzy, her face a pale smudge between dark hair and dark cloak, looking at him, her expression half-angry, half-sad. “I guess this is the part where we say goodbye?”(from Cassandra Clare's tumblr)

“Take London, my love, and turn it all to blood,” she said. “My gift to you.”
Don't be fooled by the word "London," this snippet could come from either The Bane Chronicles, City of Heavenly Fire, or Lady Midnight (Dark Artifices #1) too.
What do you think?

We made it to the final round of MTV's Movie Brawl!
She turned to look at Sebastian, lying on the bed. He was shirtless, and even in the dim light the old whip weals across his back were visible. She had always been fascinated by Shadowhunters but had never thought she would find one whose personality she could stand for more than five minutes, until Sebastian.Check it the full tumblr post.

Round 5 of The MTV's Movie Brawl got extended to tomorrow (Jan. 25)
Oh, pffbt. Well, if they’d ended the poll today as was originally going to happen, TMI would have won (not that I know what will win tomorrow, as only Magnus can see the future) so I think you guys deserve something for your loyal votenating.
So, a small snippet from City of Heavenly Fire:
Magnus rolled onto his back and put his feet up on the arm of the sofa. “What do you care if Alec’s miserable?”
“What do I care?” Jace said, so loudly that Chairman Meow rolled off the couch and landed on the floor. “Of course I care about Alec; he’s my best friend, my parabatai. And he’s unhappy. And so are you, by the look of things. Takeout containers everywhere, you haven’t done anything to fix up the place, your cat looks dead —“
“He’s not dead.”

Sunday, November, 25th Cassie gave us an Unidentified Snippet
Belatedly, she realized something else. “Do you … have anything?”
He didn’t seem to have recovered from her last comment. “But do you mean — wait, do I have what?”
She slitted her eyes at him. “Something important.”
“Like what? The phone number for the White House?” A moment later, under her withering glare, realization dawned. “Oh.” His was the expression of someone who has run out of gas in the middle of the desert, miles from help. “I … “

Perhaps it's Black Friday, or something else... But Cassandra Clare enlighten us with a new City of Heavenly Fire snippet
“We shouldn’t,” protested Isabelle. “The Clave has a plan.”
“The Clave has the collective intelligence of a pineapple,” said Jace.
Alec blinked up at them. “Jace is right.”
Isabelle turned on her brother. “What do you know? You weren’t even paying attention.”
“I was,” Alec said, injured. “I said Jace was right.”
“Yeah, but there’s like a 90% chance of me being right most of the time, so that’s not proof you were listening,” said Jace. “That’s just a good guess.”

Of course, we reached that goal. Here's the snippet we got:
“No killing,” Jordan said. “We’re trying to make you feel peaceful, so you don’t go up in flames. Blood, killing, war, those are all non-peaceful things. Isn’t there anything else you like? Rainforests? Chirping birds?”
“Weapons,” said Jace. “I like weapons.”
“I’m starting to think we have a problematic issue of personal philosophy here.”
Jace leaned forward, his palms flat on the ground. “I’m a warrior,” he said. “I was brought up as a warrior. I didn’t have toys, I had weapons. I slept with a wooden sword until I was five. My first books were medieval demonologies with illuminated pages. The first songs I learned were chants to banish demons. I know what brings me peace, and it isn’t sandy beaches or chirping birds in rainforests. I want a weapon in my hand and a strategy to win.”
Jordan looked at him levelly. “So you’re saying that what brings you peace … is war.”
“Now you get it.”
